Slabwood Biomass
Slabwood offcuts are the outer part of the sawlog which no sawn timber can be recovered from. All of our slabwood is uplifted and taken away to be chipped on site for biomass. Biomass is then burnt in a large furnace to produce electricity and/or heat . The loads in the photos below are going to a local market garden to produce heat for their growing tunnels.
Our sawmill has zero waste – our other by-product, sawdust, is used for bedding by our local dairy and equestrian centre.
